Gedling CVS offers a range of support for the Voluntary and Community Sector. These are:
Support and advice – a wide range of support is provided to help groups and organisations to thrive within Gedling Borough. These include: funding advice, constitutional advice, networking opportunities etc.
Befriending Scheme - a new scheme to support older people become less isolated.
Health – Chair Based Exercises – are delivered free by trained volunteers to care homes, residential settings, lunch clubs, day centres, organisations etc. They help older people who spend long periods of time in a chair and people with disabilities to take part and benefit from regular physical activity.
Health Trainer – Helps YOU to make small changes that can make a big difference to a healthier lifestyle. If you want to control your weight, get fitter, have a healthier diet or quit smoking, reduce your stress levels or just feel better about yourself – with the support of our Health Trainer you will get the support you need to help YOU to make the changes.
Gedling Elders Caribbean Lunch Club – meets monthly on the second Friday at 11 30am – 2 30pm in the Brickyard Community Centre, Honeywood Drive, Old Brickyard, Nottingham NG3 6PB. They have a range of activities, including gentle exercise and a hot lunch. (There is a small cost for the lunch/refreshments).
Information - we maintain an up to date database of local voluntary and community groups providing services and/or social activities. We can provide you with details of groups that you may be interested in. Some of the types of groups include: lunch clubs, care groups, walking groups, light exercise, local history societies, dancing groups, arts and culture, conservation, musical, self help, youth groups, parent and toddler groups etc. Monthly e-bulletins are sent out to organisations/groups with the latest funding,training, conferences, consultations, etc. Community Eye is a quarterly publication sent out to GCVS Members with latest news affecting the sector.
Volunteering - a wide range of opportunities for volunteering to help you decide what you would like to do.
Voluntary Transport Scheme – provides a service for people who experience permanent or temporary mobility difficulties using public transport as a result of age, illness, disability, location, geographical or social isolation and who have no other means of transport available to them.
